About

Ryan Cales joined the Department of Focused Inquiry in 2010 and served as a UTA Program Co-Coordinator from 2016-2022. In addition to his work in FI, he was a long-time volunteer instructor of computer literacy and job preparedness at the Richmond City prisoner reentry program Opportunity Alliance Reentry (2010-2020). He currently serves on the Public Education Campaign Committee for Richmond For All and is an active member of United Campus Workers. His research and teaching interests include rhetorical theory and criticism, community literacy, and composition. He is a big fan of board games and card tricks.
