Julianne began teaching Focused Inquiry courses as an adjunct faculty member in 2022. Previously, she taught writing and literature courses at the University of Virginia, as well as high school English. Her dissertation, "Feeling Impersonal: Gender and the Art of Detachment in post-1960s American Literature," studied the cool style of Susan Sontag, Lydia Davis, Ottessa Moshfegh and Weike Wang's fiction.
