About
Dr. Michael Abelson began teaching Focused Inquiry in 2007. He served as GTA Coordinator for the department from 2009-2017 and in 2018 he was elected Associate Chair and served in that role until spring 2024. He teaches UNIV 111, 112, 200 and 299. Previously, Dr. Abelson taught English at the University of Ostrava and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. He earned an interdisciplinary B.A. in Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Iowa, an M.A. in Educational Policy Studies, specializing in Comparative Education, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at VCU.
