About
Deidra teaches Focused Inquiry I and II in VCU’s Department of Focused Inquiry. She has over twenty years of instructional
experience in higher education at both two and four-year institutions. She has taught first-year general education courses in composition, literature, and critical inquiry; upper-level courses in technical communication, advanced communication, and public speaking; and graduate-level courses in mass communications and mass media research. Beyond the classroom, she has also supported student success and engagement by co-directing transitional summer programs, providing professional tutoring, and coordinating summer study abroad programs.
Deidra has earned a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English with a Professional Writing emphasis, a Ph.D. in Media, Art and Text, and a Professional Certificate in Instructional Design.
